Terms of service
The rules for using Readback, in plain language. Last updated 31 October 2026.
What Readback is
- Readback is a Chrome extension and web dashboard that notices the technical articles you read, lets you keep the ones that matter, and brings the ideas back with short recall questions.
- By installing or using Readback, or by signing in, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, uninstall it. How we handle your data is explained on the privacy page, which is part of these terms.
Using Readback
- Personal use. Readback is for your own reading and learning. Do not resell it, share your account, or use it to harm others.
- Fair use of the AI. Do not try to bypass the limits on question writing and grading, overload the service, probe it for weaknesses, or use it to generate content unrelated to articles you have kept. We may rate limit or block abuse.
- Content you send. Only keep articles you are allowed to read, and only send text to the AI that you are free to use. You stay responsible for how you use the questions and answers.
- Third-party articles. Readback does not own the articles you read. Their authors and publishers keep their rights. Readback only works on the article text you already have open.
Your account
- Optional. Tracking, Keep and the local dashboard need no account. AI question writing, AI grading and sync need a Readback account, created with Continue with Google.
- Keep it secure. You are responsible for what happens under your Google sign-in and your Readback session on your devices.
- Leaving. You can delete your local data, your cloud data or your whole account from Readback settings at any time. Deleting the account removes it, its sessions and its data, and cannot be undone.
The AI and its answers
- Your consent. Text from a kept article is sent to the AI only if you agree in Readback settings. You can turn that off whenever you like.
- It can be wrong. AI-written questions, explanations and grades can contain mistakes. They are a study aid, not professional, legal, medical or financial advice, and not a guarantee of what you will remember.
- Shared question cache. Generated question sets, which quote short passages with no name or address attached, are stored so others who read the same text do not trigger the AI again. This is described on the privacy page.
Plans and payment
- Free. The Free plan never expires. Its AI quizzes are a 14-day trial from the day you first sign in, with a limited allowance of AI question sets (6 questions each) and graded answers, and no sync. After the trial, keeping articles and answering question sets already on your device stay free, while new question sets, AI grading and the More button need a paid plan. We may adjust Free allowances for new and existing accounts.
- Monthly. A subscription that renews every month until it is cancelled. It includes unlimited AI questions and grading and sync. If it lapses or is cancelled, your account returns to Free and your local data stays on your device.
- Lifetime. One payment with no renewals. It covers the paid features for as long as Readback is offered. It is not a promise that the service will run forever.
- Prices and currency. Prices are shown in rupees to buyers in India and US dollars elsewhere, chosen from the country of your connection. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. We may change prices for future purchases.
- Payments. Payments are handled by Razorpay. You enter payment details with Razorpay, not with Readback, and Razorpay's terms apply to the payment.
Changes and availability
- Readback is provided as it is and as available. We may change, pause or stop features, and we try to give notice of major changes on this site.
- We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or abuses the service. You can stop using Readback at any time by uninstalling it.
What we do not promise
- To the extent the law allows, Readback comes with no warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid Readback in the 12 months before it.
- Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.
Changes to these terms
- We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using Readback after a change, you accept the new terms.
